Jyoti Shines A Light: Libin Babu

Libin Babu was born and raised in India. It was in India where Libin studied and taught the lineage of yoga known as Sivananda. The Sivananda Yoga training system aims to introduce an authentically Vedic yoga system and believes that retaining the body’s vitality is a byproduct of the discipline and not the goal. The system philosophies consist of 5 principles: proper breathing, proper exercise, proper relaxation, proper diet, positive thinking & meditation.

Libin is grateful to his parents for his journey to enlightenment because he grew up listening to stories of great yogis and their inspiring accomplishments. He believes that love and warmth can be conducted through simply the touch of a hand. We are blessed to have Libin as part of our unique and talented family!

On Tuesday and Thursday evenings Libin leads our Sivananda flow which integrates breathing and relaxation into distinctive asanas that are consistent with traditional and authentic yogic disciplines. Tone, balance and align by reserving your space here!

What made you fall in love with taking care of your body?

I grew up listening to the stories of great yogis and their accomplishments. When people struggled to manage the simple aspects of life, these yogis not only lived a very involved life but also showed a way of wisdom and a profound inner experience. I learned that taking care of my body is the first step to an enhanced life. When I started working on my body intensely, I could see positive transformations that allowed me to accomplish things more efficiently.

What does self-care mean to you?

When outside distractions are minimal, we must turn to ourselves, take a joyful journey inward and commit to our inner wellbeing. It is vital to see this clearly. We are living in a time in which we are put into competition for a better life. We need to address the challenges of our world, but that should not be our primary mission of life. That is just survival. The important piece of life lies under the iceberg and is left unnoticed. This is self-care in a more profound sense. Life becomes blissful and complete when one cares about body, mind, and life energies and cultivates them. We are privileged to access a deeper consciousness than any other animal known to us. I often ask myself and challenge others to do the same: “What would I/you do if we were alone in this world? Without needing to compete with others for more money and better luxury things, what would I/you do?”

What inspires you most?

I often think about how generations of people pass down their knowledge, technology, social systems, and cultures to the next. I visualize different iterations of the story of humanity repeatedly, with dozens of other circumstances that might have occurred: wars, poverty, and a struggle for survival. And finally, here we are! The very moment that turns the page of an ever-continuing story with infinite possibilities in our hands inspires me more than anything. I feel fortunate and inspired to be conscious and alive!

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

“Don’t look up to anything, don’t look down to anything. Just see what is there”-Sadhguru

Sadhguru speaks about the importance of developing a clear perception through yoga. When we can see the real world as it is, without distorting it with our prejudices and fogging it with our opinions, we will lead an effortless and blissful life as complete individuals. When we become conscious, a positive social transformation becomes an inevitable result for a better world.

How do you ignite your inner light?

Unlike any other creature on the planet, we humans are blessed with this unique ability of inner transformation and unlimited potential to ignite our Jyoti. Yoga facilitates practical methods to enter this realm of consciousness.
