Jyoti Shines A Light: Dona “Dovie” Squires

With an open heart and endless gratitude, we are thrilled to welcome Dona “Dovie” Squires to our community!

Dovie has been a professional Licensed Massage Therapist for 25 years and a Certified Thai Yoga Practitioner for nearly 10 years. She is a highly trained trauma-informed, trauma-sensitive 500RYT that believes health and wellness should be a way of life. Dovie has so much experience and knowledge to share with our Jyoti Family!

Yoga has been a great sense of freedom for Dovie (a feeling that many of us can relate to!). Float, move and meditate at Aerial Yoga on Saturday mornings to experience her powerful support on your healing journey. Dovie also teaches Sports Yoga, Acroyoga, Yin Yoga, Hatha Yoga and Gentle Yoga.

What made you fall in love with taking care of your body?

When I was very, very young girl, someone I trusted hurt both my physical and emotional bodies. As a result, I made a conscious decision to take care of myself the best way I know how to. What that looks like is constantly evolving.

What does self-care mean to you?

I like to think of self-care as something that is nourishing, that makes me feel good and safe. Sometimes this can be a walk in the park, tea with a dear friend or a comforting embrace.

What inspires you most?

Wild animals inspire me deeply. They live in the present moment and in the harshest of elements. They rise with the sun, hunt for their food, feed their young, build their own shelters and after all that, bless us with immense beauty.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?

Respect the process!

How do you ignite your inner light?

Dance, chocolate, play, more dance, more chocolate and more play… every day!
